What can I do with an accounting degree?
With an accounting degree you can, obviously, be an accountant — but there are so many varieties of accountants: international, forensic, public, government, management ... the list goes on. Or, you can work as an auditor, comptroller, consultant, or even work your way up to become the chief financial officer of a company.
Your accounting degree will open doors in every kind of business, because you have the language and basic tools that successful businesses require. Most of our graduates go on to take the Certified Public Account exam, which improves your appeal as a potential employee. The U.S. Department of Labor estimates that the number of accounting careers in the country will grow 22 percent between 2008 and 2018, so there will be plenty of career prospects for you when you graduate.
